Pastafarians believe that "Global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters are a direct consequence of the decline in numbers of pirates since the 1800s.". I was attempting to explaining this to people in the Serenity queue last week, but confusion and excitement meant I was not terribly coherent. But the pirate element draws me strangely. And the Germanic headline about the cult is wonderful.
I'm still unclear on the precise relationship vegetarians can have with the Noodliness. I personally assume that the act of eating pasta, especially in a good red pesto sauce (with or without wine) is a communion: the pasta transubstantiates (although not by very much) into the Noodiless's body, the sauce into the sauce. I'm not sure about the cheese on top. The uncyclopedia has more on this.
